DPCL to organise programme for displaced youths

Bhubaneswar, April 17: With an objective of youth empowerment, the Dhamra Port Company Ltd is organising a youth camp titled ‘Effective Living & Leadership Programmes' for displaced youths from its proposed site at Dhamra in Bhadrak district of Orissa.

The programme will be held at Yatri Niwas in Bhubaneswar April 18 to 21.

Among the participants 14 are from Dosinga village, 7 from Chhatrapada, 5 from Narasinghprasad, 5 from Balasahi, 3 from Erei, 2 from Achok, , 2 from Bhattatira, 2 from Somipatia and 1 each from Gajipur, Manipur, Musanga, Narasinghpurdian and Oramal.

“The programme has been initiated with a view to bring about inspirational changes in their lives for a more effective living which will lead to better teamwork and higher performance,” according to Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, CEO, DPCL.

The purpose of the programme is to prepare individuals in realising their full potential as human beings and citizens, company said.

The programme has been designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to create and administer programs that support youth in meeting the challenges of developing their emotional, physical, social and intellectual selves and in gaining a voice and place in the society.

The programme is being conducted under the expertise of a specialised eight-member team from Moral Re-Armament led by Appal Raju, Course Director.

The days would start with yoga session and would proceed with various other programmes like prayer sessions, inner development, role plays, presentations, documentaries, family meetings and cultural events.

The Dhamra Port Company Limited is a 50:50 Joint Venture of L&T and Tata Steel. DPCL has been awarded a Concession by Government of Orissa for expansion and development of Dhamra Port on BOOST (Build, Own, Operate, Share and Transfer) basis.

The company is building a deep draft port north of the mouth of river Dhamra in the northern part of Orissa coast. The port will be the deepest in India capable of handling super cape size vessels up to 180000 DWT.

The master plan provides for 13 berths capable of handling more than 83 million MT of Dry Bulk, Break Bulk, Liquid Bulk and Containerized cargo per annum. The fully mechanized and ultra modern port will spur and nurture the mineral based industrial growth in the eastern part of India.
