Samanta appointed Member of Coir Board

Bhubaneswar, June 25: A. Samanta, Founder of KIIT Group of Institutions has been appointed as a Member of National Coir Board for a period of three years.

Samanta's appointment was communicated through a notification of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India dated June 24.

Coir Board is the apex statutory body established by the Government of India under a legislation enacted by the Parliament for the promotion and development of coir industry in the country as a whole.

This is not the first appointment of Samanta, a well known educational entrepreneur, in the national bodies, according to an official release.

Last month, Samanta was nominated as a Member of the Executive Committee of All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE), the apex body to regulate technical and professional education in India .

Earlier this year, he was appointed as a Member of University Grants Commission, the highest body to regulate higher education in the country.

Samanta expressed his gratitude to the Ministry and the Chairman of the Coir Board for appointing him to this important office. He assured that he will discharge all responsibilities associated with the office diligently.
