Bhubaneswar, Dec. 22: Former Lok Sabha Member from Balasore Kharavel Swain resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday in protest against the interference of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the party's functioning.
Swain told newsmen here that he decided to end his 20-year-long relationship with the BJP as he was ill-treated by the RSS men who were managing the BJP in Odisha by holding the post of party's organising secretary.
The national leadership of the BJP had not taken any action despite he airing his grievances before them about the RSS men.
“The BJP will not be able to achieve any success for another 100 years if it continues to be managed by the RSS leaders who had no moral character,” Swain observed.
His resignation came on a day when BJP elected former Sundargarh MP Jual Oram was unanimously elected president of the party in the state. Oram succeeds Suresh Pujari.
About his future plan, Swain said he would float a new regional party which would emerge as an alternative to the Biju Janata Dal.
The state will not achieve any progress till BJD president Naveen Patnaik continues to be Chief Minister, he said.
