Puri (Orissa): All preparations have been completed for the Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra from Gundicha temple to their main temple on Tuesday afternoon.

Adequate security arrangements have been made for the return journey of the deities when their chariots will be pulled on the Grand Road following a series of rituals. Several lakhs of devotees are likely to attend the Bahuda Yatra.

As per the tradition, the three chariots of the deities were veered along the Grand Road giving south turn on Monday and were parked at Saradha Bali, in front of the Nakachana Dwar (exit gate) of the Gundicha temple.

On Monday evening, nearly five lakhs devotees thronged the Gundicha temple to attend the Sandhya Darshan (viewing of the deities on the evening of the ninth day of the festival) since it is considered as one of the most auspicious occasions.

According to the temple authorities, the deities would be escorted out in Goti Pahandi (one by one) from the sanctum sanctorum of the Gundicha temple after observance of Abakash, Mailum, Surya Puja and offering of Gopal Bhog to the deities.

The Pahandi ceremony is scheduled for completion by 2-30 pm after which the Gajapati King Divyasingh Dev would perform Chhera Pahanra on the chariots.

The pulling of the chariots would begin by 4-30 pm.

The deities will continue to be on their respective chariots on the Grand Road and the Suna Besha ceremony will be held on Thursday.

The deities would re-enter the main temple on Saturday on the occasion of Niladri Bije.
