The bottle bore the brand name `Shivnath' with the address and telephone number indicating that the same was manufactured in a company based at Raipur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
Taken aback by the presence of a dead mosquito inside the bottle, the customer tried to contact the manufacturing company in Raipur over the phone by dialing the telephone number printed on the label pasted on bottle. But the telephone number appeared to be non-existing.
Keeping the bottle's seal intact, the buyer went and approached District Collector Nitin Bhanudas Jawale and showed him the bottle.
Jawale, himself tried to contact the company on the same number, but in vain.
The authorities then went to the shop from where the water bottle was purchased to know about the supplier of the same.
Jawale subsequently raided the storage dealer's godown in the town and seized thousands of packaged water bottles and pouches.
He issued instructions to the District Food Inspector for laboratory test of the seized water bottles to verify the quality of the water
While the supplier was being questioned, Jawale said the authorities in Raipur would be contacted soon to ascertain if any manufacturing unit in their city produced the drinking water that had been seized.
