Bhubaneswar, May 9: The Congress leaders and workers in Orissa are in an upbeat mood again. The party's youth icon and general secretary Rahul Gandhi is visiting the State on May 13.
The youth wing of the party is once again active. Buoyant over the huge success of Gandhi's previous tour of the State just two months ago, the Youth Congress workers are busy making preparations to make Gandhi's second trip equally successful. |
Gandhi is scheduled to address two conferences in the Silver city of Cuttack – one of the youth leaders of the party belonging to the scheduled castes and other hailing from the scheduled tribes.
As Gandhi has been emphasising on the need to involve the youths in the party organisation in a bigger way, Youth Congress leaders of the State are hopeful that the two youth leader conferences, especially when addressed by the Congress general secretary and Amethi MP, would go a long in strengthening the party.
Gandhi is also scheduled to address a public meeting at Angul in the morning hours of May 13 before coming to Cuttack.
The Angul public meeting is being organised by the Indian National Trade Union Congress.
During his March trip, Gandhi had met the leaders of the INTUC in Angul town and discussed about various issues including the demand for grant of Navratna status to National Aluminium Congress.
Now that NALCO has already been conferred the Navratna status, the INTUC people have invited Gandhi to thank him for successfully taking up their demand before the Central government, Youth Congress All-India president Ashok Tanwar told reporters in the city on Friday.
