Orissa artist pays tribute to Jaipur terror victims

Puri (Orissa), May 14: Well-known sand artist of Orissa Sudarsan Pattnaik on Wednesday carved a sand sculpture on the Puri beach to pay tributes to the innocent people who were killed in the serial bomb blasts at Jaipur in Rajasthan on Tuesday.

Pattnaik carved a sand image of the victims of the terror attacks with a message to the world to put an end to terrorism.

“Terrorism has no place in the territory of humanity,” Pattnaik said.


At least 80 people were reportedly killed and 200 injured when the blasts took place one after the other in crowded areas of Jaipur on Tuesday.

The artist used five tonnes of sand and took five hours to complete the sculpture.

The students of the Golden Sand Art Institute that Pattnaik runs in the city joined hands to help him complete the sculpture.

A large number of people gathered near the sculpture to and paid tributes to the victims of the terror attack.

Meanwhile, Orissa government has tightened security at major public places such as airport, bus terminus, railway stations and prominent shrines in view of the terror attack in Jaipur.

Director General of Police Gopal Chandra Nanda has issued instructions to the Superintendents of Police in all 30 districts of the State to take preventive measure to prevent any possible terrorist strike.
